If we can't treat them as human beings in prison then it does not reflect well on our society," Ms Arani (Lawyer)

Targeted: Terror plot convict Dhiren Barot

The London lawyer representing the injured "dirty bomber" Dhiren Barot has warned that terrorist convicts are being targeted by other inmates in Britain's jails.

Solicitor Muddassar Arani accused prison chiefs of failing in their "duty of care" to protect terrorist inmates and predicted a Muslim "backlash" if victimisation continued.

Her warning came as she gave details of the extensive injuries sustained by Barot when boiling liquid was thrown over him by fellow convicts in Durham's Frankland Prison on 13 July.

Barot - a Muslim convert from London who was jailed for life last year for plotting attacks in London and New York with explosive-filled limousines and a radioactive "dirty" bomb - was left with severe burns to his scalp, forehead, neck, back and hands after the attack.

Ms Arani said the 35-year-old was in "extreme pain" and his wounds were infected. He is expected to seek compensation.

While receiving treatment in Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary police requested a news blackout to protect medical staff and Barot himself from possible attack.

Northumbria police could not estimate the cost of the security operation, which included armed police in the hospital and the Air Support Unit.

Two other terrorist convicts - Hussain Osman, jailed for his part in the 21/7 attacks in London, and Omar Khyam, the leader of a gang that planned to blow up Bluewater shopping centre - have also been targeted at the jail in recent weeks. A fire was lit in Osman's cell and Khyam has received death threats.

Ms Arani said there had been a failure to protect terrorist convicts. "If we can't treat them as human beings in prison then it does not reflect well on our society," she said.

My heart bleeds for these people, after all they were only locked up because their religion required them to blow people up especially if they did not follow the same religion as they did, is that so wrong, the poor little darlings have been very hard done by.

This is what their Layer would have us believe, can you credit the last statement in the article, i will repeat it :

"If we can't treat them as human beings in prison then it does not reflect well on our society," she said."

These people did not consider for one moment the humanity of their intended victims, indeed they did not even see their victims as "human".

Islam does not deal in humanity yet when it comes to them being treated as they would treat us they immediately start yelling foul.

These men tried to kill many people, they were willing to "dish it out", now lets see if they can take it

Mr. Barot is so injured and in such pain that he immediately is talking about "seeking compensation" (ie: he & his lawyer have their greedy selfish mitts headed toward the hardworking British taxpayers pockets) If this convicted criminal should actually be given any "compensation" then the government should first deduct all costs for any damages he caused, the cost of his incarceration, the cost of his medical bills and the cost of all of his "free" legal aid.

My feelings exactly, and that goes for the Somali rapist who served his sentence but has to be kept in jail because he is too dangerous to let free. You recall he refuses to go home and cannot be deported so a "judge" gave him £50,000 compensation for his illegal imprisonment.

She is trying to insinuate that British/European society is hers. It is not. Her society is the Ummah and islam.

It seems that this holy warrior can dish it out but cannot take it when it comes to the consequences. What a shower of crybabies. He should grow up, it is a very human experience.

If they behaved like human beings, instead of like rabid beasts, they might get treated like human beings.
The simple answer is, bugger off back to where you came from.

Of course we should treat them correctly while they are in jail. Nobody should do them harm either, while they are locked up by the government. She is right, it's absolutely this is part of our values.

But when we discuss values, we should also discuss a proper punishment for these enemy combatants. They have or wanted to commit war crimes and did not wear a proper uniform while attacking our country. That means they should have been shot dead, like spies and other war criminals.

But I am afraid we are to 'sophisticated' for these simple old fashioned conclusions. Hence the treatment in prison. She is right, our acts do not reflect well on our society.
