So the Prisons are a hotbed of Islam,  most readers of this blog, many who are far more knowledgeable than I in these matters have long said this, it now appears to be confirmed - by the Quilliam foundation.

Radical Muslims are spreading extremist propaganda and promoting jihad from inside UK jails, a report has claimed.

It would appear that people like Abu Hamza (who is still awaiting deportation to the USA) are issuing fatwas and appearing on TV from their prison cell.

I have to ask - what on Earth were the prison staff doing whilst all this was going on, were they part of a live audience for the broadcast, maybe they were the camera crew, script writers maybe.

Surely these high risk prisoners are being observed, or does that breach their civil liberties.

Another problem is this, how did the quilliam foundation get this information. The Ministry of Justice said the Quilliam Foundation did not contact the department and did not apply to visit any jails or speak to prison staff.

The Quilliam Foundation said the study, to be published on Monday, was based largely on accounts sneaked out of prisons by high-profile extremists.

Why would extremists contact the Quilliam foundation whose  mission is to fight extremism (supposedly)- that does not make sense to me at all - I cannot see it happening, unless these messages fell into the hands of so called moderate Muslims and they gave them to the Quilliam Foundation - that is possible.

The Ministry of Justice say they have specialized teams - highly trained to deal with this kind of situation in our prisons

"A spokeswoman said: "We are extremely skilled in managing all challenging and dangerous criminals, and adapting to evolving risks and dangers.

"We run a dedicated, expert unit which leads work to tackle the risk of extremism and radicalisation in prison."

This unit would appear to be in need of retraining, they do not appear to be very expert to me  especially when high profile Muslim prisoners can appear on TV - from their cells.

The Ministry of Justice also said:

All our high-security prisons operate enhanced monitoring and intelligence-gathering on those convicted or suspected of involvement in terrorism or extremism."

Really!!

The situation is truly farcical but completely in line with today's PC madness where prisoners must not be deprived of any privacy or creature comfort .

There is another explanation of this situation, in allowing these people to do such things as appear on TV , pass fatwas and lead prayers they could expose other dangerous people outside prison,  thus the authorities could pursue those individuals - could be - who knows.
