The British government published a new set of guidelines for newspapers calling for a voluntary ban on certain words and the suppression of stories about non-white crimes! While the guidelines are not a legal requirement, Britain has already prosecuted political figures for so-called “hate speech” for speaking out against Islamic immigration.

The guidelines call on newspapers and media to voluntarily cease using the following words:
“immigrant,” “illegal immigrant,” “illegal asylum seeker,” “bogus asylum seeker,” “non-white,” “non-Christian,” “mixed race,” “half-caste,” “mulatto.”
Never identify people by race or religion.
The media is told to give racial minorities preferential treatment in hiring to have a more “multi-racial” staff.
The media is told to portray ethnic minorities in a more positive light.
When discussing public opinion always use or include quotes from ethnic minorities.
Pander to the taboos of ethnic minorities. Learn what local ethnic minorities don’t like and then omit these things from your paper.
Encourage whites to embrace elements of 3rd world immigrant cultures. Promote and glorify the holidays, customs, and religious beliefs of non-white immigrant cultures.
Also expose “racists.”
The government document explicitly tells those in the media to portray minorities in a more positive light while holding white “racists” up to ridicule.
the NUJ,according to their website,refuse to propagte racist propaganda. However they do give advice on how to slag off the BNP. By racist propaganda,we can assume they mean facts.

I do not see that much has changed. I have not read 1984 although I have seen and heard dramatic presentations of it several times. I seem to recall one of the essentials of a totalitarian system was that it eliminated words from the language so people could not express any form of dissent.
I also read that Orwells "Ministry of Truth" was based on the BBC

I also remember the BNP saying one of their candidates in the (2005?) general election got 12 months imprisonment for "Incitement to racial hatred". He issued an election leaflet saying "our muslim citizens" were responsible for starting a riot in England somewhere.
The Judge accepted it was true but because it would incite racial hatred it was illegal. Par for the course for this government really to jail people for telling the truth. Don't want to set a precedent where would they be if they had to tell the truth?

The only thing here that is new is that someone has actually come out and admitted this shameful state of affairs. Freedom of expression has been censored one way or another since this Government came into office and this has been made worse by self censorship in the face of Muslim threats of violence and prosecution. The only solution is mass deportation but no British or European Government has the stomach for this.
