Some of you may remember that I referred to a new organization based in Exeter University called The European Muslim Research Centre, I also commented on how busy they had been, well here is some more of their propaganda.

You really should read this document, it starts thus:-

Our core value is that a growing European Muslim
population makes significant and valuable contributions to the
safety, prosperity and cohesion of European communities
and countries and to the well being of Europe as a whole.

We reject, as fundamentally flawed, the position currently held
by too many commentators: that European Muslims, Islam and
strict adherence to Islam poses a threat to the safety, cohesion
and well being of communities and countries in Europe.

Their stand point is clear and clearly distorted and suggests that they actually do not know very much about the nature of Islam, from the statement made above they appear to see Islam as a benign benevolent Religion

They concentrate on crimes that have been committed against Muslims, they actually state very few crimes, indeed if you look at the crimes committed by Muslims against those  who are not Muslims and especially females the imbalance is clear to see..

Muslims commit crimes against any host population, they have to it is decreed in the Koran, the authors of this report have completely neglected to address the vast amount of crimes committed by Muslims in the UK against the host population.

The researchers of this report should also take note of this :- from the BBC

"I think it would be naive to think that Britain could not see its first female suicide bomber," says Sabira Lakha, an adviser to the Muslim Women's Advisory Group.

 A response has to be made to this report, I will contact some people I know and see if a good response can be framed and published

Here is the precursor to the report

A new report launched today 28 January reveals the trends behindunder reported violence against Muslims in London. It illuminates howcontexts of fear and prejudice against Muslims are providing a basisfor violence against Muslim communities. This is the first step in aten year research project led by the European Muslim Research Centre atthe University of Exeter that will investigate Islamophobia andanti-Muslim hate crime in towns and cities across Europe.

Dr Jonathan Githens-Mazer and Dr Robert Lambert MBE, of the University of Exeter co-authored ‘Islamophobia and Anti-Muslim Hate Crime: a London Case Study’ the first study from the new European Muslim Research Centre.  This reportis being launched today in partnership with Muslim communitygroups  to provide research for and about Muslims in Europe. Theauthors call for anti-Muslim hate crimes to be taken more seriously bygovernment, media and the police.

The report finds that Muslim Londoners face a threat of violence andintimidation from three groups. Firstly from a small violent extremistnationalist milieu that has broadly the same political analysis as theBritish National Party (BNP). Secondly from London gangs who have noallegiance with or affinity to the BNP. Thirdly from a small number ofLondoners and visitors to London who appear to be acting on prejudicesgained via negative media portrayals of Muslims as terrorists andsecurity threats.

The report illustrates how perpetrators of hate-crimes againstMuslims are invariably motivated by a negative view of Muslims acquiredfrom mainstream or extremist nationalist media reports or commentaries. These spread stereotypes and fears that stigmatise, alienate andisolate Muslims as threats to safety, security and social cohesion. Aspolitical commentator and journalist Peter Oborne, says in a forewordto the report that British Muslims now perform an ‘unenviable outcastrole’ previously played by ‘Germans, Roman Catholics, Jews and WestIndians’.

Dr Githens-Mazer of the University of Exeter, co- author of thereport said, “Anti-Muslim hate crimes in London have caused death andserious injuries and have generally inflicted suffering, fear anddistress just like racist hate crimes aimed at other minorities in thecapital.  However, the motivation for anti-Muslim hate crimes is not aswell understood by government, media or the police as racist hatecrimes.”

He added, ‘Additional problems arise because a significant number ofMuslim Londoners don’t report crimes to the police, and that makes itdifficult to assess or quantify the scale of the problem.” 

The evidence for the report arises from original in-depth interviewswith victims of anti-Muslim hate crime, and in some cases perpetratorsof racist crimes. The report is intended to introduce politicians,public servants, police, media and public to Muslim communityperspectives that are often hidden.

A more detailed follow-up report Islamophobia and Anti-Muslim Crimes in the UK is due out in July 2010 which will  analyse the situation in other UK towns and cities as well as London.
