Soon, if we are not very careful, there will be no one to speak for us.

Thank you DP111 and Gallia Watch

The freedom of speech is now under greater threat than ever, moves are afoot to stifle any voice that does not follow the official line, the "official line being set by the Organization of Islamic Co-operation (OIC)

The OIC led by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have for some time been trying to make any criticism of Islam or Muslims a crime, a global crime.

Obama's muse, Hilary Clinton, has attended the latest round of talks called the Istanbul process, it is here that she has given tacit agreement  to the demands of the OIC and their demand for the inception of the global crime of "Islamophobia"

* By standing “united” (as the OIC head put it in a Turkish Daily op-ed) with the OIC on these issues, America appears to validate the OIC agenda, thus demoralizing the legions of women’s rights and human-rights advocates, bloggers, journalists, minorities, converts, reformers and others in OIC states who look to the United States for support against oppression.

* It raises expectations that America can and will regulate speech on behalf of Islam, as has happened in Western Europe, Canada and Australia

If this in itself were not enough the actions of the London School of Economics students union merely reinforce what is happening to free speech in the West:-

Here is their policy which will no doubt be taken on board by the University - thank you The Volokh Conspiracy

Union believes

1. In the right to criticise religion,

2. In freedom of speech and thought,

3. It has a responsibility to protect its members from hate crime and hate speech,

4. Debate on religious matters should not be limited by what may be offensive to any particular religion, but the deliberate and persistent targeting of one religious group about any issue with the intent or effect of being Islamophobic (‘Islamophobia’ as defined below) will not be tolerated.

5. That Islamophobia is a form of anti-Islamic racism.

Union resolves

1. To define Islamophobia as “a form of racism expressed through the hatred or fear of Islam, Muslims, or Islamic culture, and the stereotyping, demonisation or harassment of Muslims, including but not limited to portraying Muslims as barbarians or terrorists, or attacking the Qur’an as a manual of hatred”, …

4. To ensure that all Islamophobic incidents aimed at or perpetrated by LSE students either verbal, physical or online are dealt with swiftly and effectively in conjunction with the School ….

Take a look at number one then number four, if that is not a contradiction I do not know what is, it is quite clear that this group of people only want to criticize any other religion but Islam, and what do they mean by "dealt with" this actually sounds like a threat.

In addition to the above Google have decided to censor bloggers, Google will take down any site that any government or organization finds offensive to them

Google's informal motto is 'don't be evil', but a huge change to its Blogger service could see the search giant help oppressive governments stamp out voices of protest.

Bloggers who have relied on the popular service to organise dissent as seen during the Arab Spring could find their posts being blocked by Google itself.

The company will now block posts or blogs from being seen in a country if they their local laws, handing a victory to regimes that crack down on free speech to keep a lid on dissent.

The move has caused widespread concern - and echoes Twitter's recent decision to block Tweets on a similar 'per country' basis to comply with local laws.

How far are we away from a repeat of the Book Burning that took place in Nazi Germany I would say that we are getting fairly close to it, the burning of books may not actually take place but the destruction of the means to make your voice heard is exactly the same thing, in the 1930's there was only the Book, film and TV were in their infancy.

What we are seeing is the dismantling of human freedoms and the control of information, we are being conditioned, big brother is truly with us, . as Neimoller says

first they came for the Communists, and I did not speak up, because I was not a Communist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak up, because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the Catholics, and I did not speak up, because I was a Protestant.

Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me

Soon, if we are not very careful there will be no one to speak for us.
