A truly appalling act of fascism
Here is Chris's statement:
Statement from Chris Knowles of the International Civil Liberties Alliance (ICLA) in relation to being summarily dismissed from Leeds City Council in the absence of due process due to his political beliefs
My name is Chris Knowles. I was formerly a Director of the International Civil Liberties Alliance (ICLA).
Today I was summarily dismissed from my employment with the Children’s Services Department of Leeds City Council. This follows a suspension that was initiated about seven months ago, as a result of an allegation about me that was published in The Sunday Times.
I intend to initiate proceedings in the Employment Tribunal for Unfair Dismissal, and proceedings for breach of human rights (freedom of expression). I was sacked without any disciplinary hearing and without being told what it is I am alleged to have done wrong.
When I attended Leeds City Council, I was not told I was to be summarily dismissed. There was a Police Chief Inspector who proposed to attend the meeting, but my barrister said that if she remained present then he would also need to be present. The police officer then agreed to leave the meeting.
I still have not been told specifically what I have allegedly done wrong. I believe that the police officer was there simply to intimidate me.
I have been a member of the trade union Unison for approximately seventeen years, but that union refused to represent me, apparently because my views disagree with Unison policy. I was notified of Unison’s refusal just a short time before I was summoned to this meeting, despite their being having been aware of my case for some time.
One would think that it is the job of a Trade Union to defend the rights of its members. Apparently that obligation does not extend to the defence of the right to freedom of expression.
— Chris Knowles
I have often spoken about the dangers that face people who are active in the anti jihad movement, what has happened to Chris is a very real example of how they can be victimized and have their livelihood taken from them.
Leeds council is a Labour council, a socialist council and they have behaved in true socialist fashion demonstrating their complete intolerance of anything but their dogma, Chris was in the children's dept - a clue exists here, the children's dept will have very close links to Social Services - better known as the SS - I would put money on the SS having more than a little influence in Chris's dismissal.
Chris speaks of Unison, this is a Union that sponsors the UAF (Unite against Fascism) the UAF is the fascist wing of Unison, these people are violent and provocative, it is typical of them to refuse to defend Chris, he is not a brainwashed socialist drone, the fact that they refuse to defend him even on the blatant breach of employment law that has taken place is deplorable - so much for supporting and defending the working man.
Freedom of expression is one of the bedrocks of this country - alas it is not a written law, if this were America Chris could legitimately claim a breach of his constitutional rights - alas this is not the case.
Leeds Council will now embark on a mud finding venture, they will be looking for any bit of dirt they can find to contest the up and coming tribunal, and to blacken Chris's name.
This action by Leeds council is reminiscent of the way the USSR behaved - people persecuted - no substantive charge or evidence is produced, the authority decided the degree of guilt - but it was always "guilty" the authority would make sure that you could not take up your work/profession again - Leeds council will do this to Chris via the reference that they have to supply upon request from Chris, in the reference they will state summary dismissal, this will stop any application for a post dead in it's tracks - only a tribunal can stop this.
That a council in this country can take such action is a disgrace to this country, this truly totalitarian fascist act betrays all that this country has stood for.
Would this council summarily dismiss a Muslim for going to the Mosque and listening to Jihadist Imams or actually promoting jihad - NO they would not - that would be his right to self expression and cultural development and Unison would back that up with the threat of strike action.
If you disagree with the actions taken by Leeds Council let them know, here is the only e-mail address I can find - general.enquiries@leeds.gov.uk

I am a retired Local Government Officer. There are thousands and thousands of my former colleagues still in post who oppose political correctness, multiculturism and mass immigration yet are forced to implement policies which support all of these misguided concepts. Any dissent or objection is treated as a form of the appropriate ism or phobia which is bad enough but, dissenters can and are accused of gross misconduct which, if proven, is a ground for dismissal. Many local Government Officers work for low salaries as a trade off for job and pension security. Very few of them are the fat cats you read about in the Daily Mail so they are afraid to speak out. Local Government has been a Cultural Marxist police state for the best part of 30 years and I can't see it changing any time soon.
